| South of Lucerne lies the grand Alpine heart of Switzerland, a massively impressive region of classic Swiss scenery - snow capped peaks, green glacial lakes, pretty villages and flower-decked balconies. The most spectacular of the Alpine regions, the Bernese Oberland, lies within comfortable striking distance of our base at Sachseln and is best known for the grandiose mountain ridge formed by the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, and their surrounding areas of pasture. Additional highlights of this magical tour include a scenic train ride aboard the world famous ‘Glacier Express’ and a tour of Lucerne and the pretty communities dotted around the lake.

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
• BERNESE OBERLAND – An excursion over the Brunig Pass to Brienz, famous for its wood carving traditions. Then to Grindelwald, set amidst glittering mountain peaks, of which the most famous is the Eiger – the most dangerous rockface in the Alps. We return, with a short stop in Interlaken
• GLACIER EXPRESS – We travel by coach to Andermatt, where we board the Glacier Express for a memorable scenic ride over the Oberalp pass to Tiefencastel near Chur. Here we rejoin our coach for the return journey to our hotel
• LAKE LUCERNE – We include a boat cruise from Buochs to Lucerne before enjoying a guided tour of this wonderful lakeside city
Overnight stops on this holiday will be made on the outward and return journey in France, with bed & breakfast on the first night and dinner, bed & breakfast on the last night. |
